istock_000014533830xsmallJapanesque is mainly me, Andrew Driver (brief profile over to the right). My original intention was to form a team of translators over time, but that has not been necessary or particularly desirable so far. I translate Japanese text, video and audio content from a wide variety of fields, ranging from law, contracts and academic papers to archaeology, horseracing and tourism. From environment and marine resources to fiction and media. Whatever the field, my principle is always to convey ideas faithfully but creatively.

I also provide a special swift service for translations of Japanese family register documents. On request, these can be accompanied by certification bearing the Institute of Linguists logo, and mailed via recorded delivery. (See the Rates page.)

I've worked with numerous concerns in both private and public sectors, and across a wide range of industries. Here are some of my more frequent clients, including commissions via the Japan Translation Center in Tokyo:

  • Japanese Organisation for International Cooperation in Family Planning (JOICFP)
  • Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training (JILPT)
  • Japan Transport Safety Board (JTSB)
  • Keio University
  • Showa Women’s University
  • Tobacco and Salt Museum, Tokyo
  • Japan Racing Association
  • Tokyo Metropolitan Tourist Authority
  • Tama Art University
  • Edo-Tokyo Museum
  • National Archives of Japan
  • Ocean Policy Research Foundation
  • Ministry of Finance
  • Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries
  • Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare

Whatever your field, I'd be happy to discuss your Japanese translation needs. Please use the contact page to get in touch.
