Translation of panels explaining historical artefacts, including the bronze shachihoko ornaments from the castle roof. The shachihoko, a mythical creature with the head of a tiger and the body of a carp (!), was thought to protect temples and castles from fire. Roofs were adorned at both ends with a male-female pair, one with its mouth open and the other closed, representing the expression A-um (the beginning and end of all things).
