Criminal Proceedings

April - May 2017
Client: Ministry of Justice (through thebigword)

Four cases involving East Europeans based in the UK who were caught trying to smuggle stimulants into Japan. The modus operandi is always the same: travel to an intermediary country, pick up a suitcase, take it to Japan, pretend you didn't know what was in it when (inevitably) questioned by customs officials. Translations included transcripts of questioning, statements, phone records and cross-examiniations in court. A total of 32,000 words spread over and month and a half.
